Korean See Through Bangs + Shu Uemura Deep-Conditioning Hair Treatment

It has been some time since I last blogged about my hair adventures. If you don't know, I previously bleached and dyed my hair a lot last year, I even had light blonde and pink hair, because you only live once (YOLO). I stopped at the end of last year because I have to go for internship and then to work full-time this year after I graduate, so dark hair it is for me. Got a bob haircut because I want to get rid of the dry bleached ends plus try out a new hairstyle! I have been letting my hair rest the past few months. Went to Shunji Matsuo at 313 a couple of times to trim my hair as well as to do hair treatment only.

About a month ago, I had to get my bob trimmed, and I felt that I need a bit of change (yes, again). I went back to Jerry from Shunji Matsuo 313 to get my hair fixed. I seldom dye my hair now, but I still go to him for my hair cuts and treatments all this while!

Didn't want to dye my hair just yet, so we decided on bangs for my fringe. Not the normal type of bangs, but the korean see through bangs, which is what you see in your korean dramas or on the streets of South Korea nowadays! Korean see through bangs is less thick and requires curling everyday to look not too flat, and some people like them messy as well. High maintaneance I say, but I think I look much younger hehe.. A fringe cut is a small change that makes a huge difference, you are thinking of changing your look, consider a fringe cut!

Completed bob cut! See how much my hair has grown! (Look as brown and black parts)

This was taken the night I got my fringe cut, got quite a number of positive comments when I instagrammed this photo! Check out my instagram or other blog posts for more photos of my fringe ok?

Apart from my haircut + fringe cut, I did hair treatment as well. We should all do hair treatment once in a while to pamper our tresses, who doesn't want nice hair?
I got to try out a new hair treatment by Shu Uemura too. Shu Uemura is actually a brand that sells cosmetics, and this is their first haircare range and hair treatment ever! This treatment is called ShuUemura Deep-Conditioning Hair Care. It can be used on different hair types - colored hair, unruly hair, weakened hair, extremely weakened hair, limp/fine hair and dry hair.
Jerry recommended me to do the Silk Bloom (light green) treatment from my chemically weakened hair. The key ingredient in the Silk Bloom series is Argan Oil, Ceramide as well as Vitamin E. Argan oil repairs the structure of the hair fiber and restore bonds of the hair, ceramide strengthen hair cuticles and vitamin E helps with hair growth and can heal hair shafts.
I am very happy with the hair treatment as it leaves my hair smooth and silky, like!!! Also, this hair treatment takes lesser time than another treatment that I did previously, hoho. :)

Jerry also gave me a set of shampoo and conditioner from the Shu Uemura series to use at home! For my hair care, he gave me the Shusu Sleek smoothing series to tackle my unruly hair.
image
Their shampoo and conditioner are packaged so nicely, looks like the super expensive type of mineral water to me haha. The shampoo and conditioner are really really rich and moisturising, if any of you has dry and frizzy/messy hair, you might want to give this a try! Actually the shampoo itself is more than enough if you are lazy hehe.. I have been rotating them with my regular drugstore shampoo and conditioner ever since I got them, as I felt that they are too rich and too good to be used on a daily basis.

Thank you Shunji Matsuo 313 and Jerry for taking care of my hair all this while, and nursing my dry hair back to health the past few months! Quote “yingjie” for 10% off chemical services at Shunji Matsuo 313, remember to ask for Jerry when booking your appointments! :)

The Garden Slug Review

Here is another short food/groupon review! :)
The Garden Slug have been on my to-go list for quite some time, but we have been putting off the visit due to its inconvenient location. There was officially no excuse to not visit them since I bought the groupon and it was expiring soon!
The Garden Slug is located in the East, surrounded by lots of private properties. To get here, you have to drive or take a bus and walk. We did the latter (as usual). The place was old looking, but their service was good! Their food is better than average, with the BF favouring his burger more. This place serves quite a lot of mushroom-y dishes, so it is good for the mushroom lovers!
image

Lychee Fruity Soda

There is nothing good and nothing bad about this drink, it will taste exactly like how you imagined it to be hehe.
image

Signature Cowboy Burger

The BF had this and he loves it! The homemade BBQ sauce was good, it tasted like a mixture of tomato and BBQ sauce.
image

Truffle-Some Shrooms Pesto Pasta

This was mine. The pasta was pretty good, cooked with lots of greens like mushroom, long beans and cherry tomatoes. Note that this is a little oily and the truffle scent is not too strong after you get used to the taste. Also, the huge portobello mushroom was too overwhelming, I can only finish half of it, the other half went into BF's tummy as usual hehe.
image
We only had this amount of food (and we were exploding already) because we were supposed to have an early dinner with my family and grandma that day. So sorry if this review isn't informative enough... I hope it helps a little at least!
I'll rate this place 3.5/5. If there are groupon vouchers for this cafe again, do go ahead and buy them since they are worth a try. However, I don't think I'll be heading back here again if there is no groupon voucher and if I don't happen to be in that area since it is rather inconvenient.

Laurier Ultra Gentle Heavy Day Review

Okay, this post is for the girls!

Guys *shoo*

It is about our monthly "thing" that I believe we all dislike.. (Not my craftholic ok!)
image
"7 out of 10 women* have experienced skin irritations e.g. itchiness, stuffiness & redness during periods. Such discomforts occur as skin around intimate area become more sensitive during the time of the month." Source: Japan survey by Kao (N=500)
image
Laurier Ultra Gentle Heavy Day is the 1st dermatologically tested napkin in Singapore, clinically proven to relieve skin irritations! I've tried using it and it works pretty well, no discomforts or irritations at all. Note that my skin is on the more sensitive side. Laurier is my most trusted sanitary pad brand anyway, I am a loyal user of their 1mm ultra thin series.
image
Laurier Ultra Gentle Heavy Day provdes ultimate comfort and is extra breathable as the unique airy soft wavy surface reduces skin contact, minimizing friction and skin irritations, as well as channel airflow to relieve stuffiness, moisture and itchiness. (Look at the diagrams)

Other key efficacies:
  • Quick Lock & Dry system > super absorbent layer locks in fluid quickly, reducing wetness on the napkin surface, leaving you drier and sticky-free.
  • Advanced technology > developed with Japan's Advanced Skin Science Technology
  • Premium quality, Made in Japan
  • Suitable for All skin types especially sensitive skin

Laurier Ultra Gentle Heavy Day is available at major supermarkets/hypermarkets, pharmacies & personal care stores. Studio M Staycation for our anniversary :)

Ahh this post is like 3 months late, but better late than never right?
BF & I went for a staycation at Studio M Hotel for our anniversary + valentine's day celebration in February! :)
image
Studio M Hotel is a loft-inspired hotel located in the city area, we took a taxi from Plaza Singapura and it was a short 5 minutes ride. Although it is located in the central area, it is not close to any MRT station so we had to travel to and fro by cab.
I love the full panel glass windows, and the translucent curtain lets in just the right amount of light!!
image
Lunched at Just Acia before heading to the hotel! Cheap and good food with free flow drinks and ice cream!

Checking in at their stylish lobby..

Our room! We had the Studio Loft room (I think it is the cheapest type over there), and here is our room tour! :)
Following the loft concept, there are 2 levels in each of their rooms, how cool is that haha!
The room is pretty small and compact on the whole, but comfortable enough for 2 pax. (We actually had a staycation at Studio M with a group of friends earlier last year, we managed to squeeze 7 people in the premier loft room.) Each room comes with a queen-sized bed as well as a sofa bed. There is also a work area for the workaholics upstairs together with the sofa bed (but don't come here to work okay)..  Due to space constraint, their sink and cupboard is open concept, while the toilet and shower cubicles are separated (and they are small). Toiletries and coffee/tea are complimentary, so you don't have to lug all your toiletries along for your staycay, just bring your facial wash, wax, shaver, perfume and make up!

The hotel also has a gym, pool as well as a jacuzzi! We went to use the pool as well as the jacuzzi. It was freezing and there were lots of noisy kids around so we didn't stay for long.. My photo looks empty because I took the photos before breakfast on the second day...
wpid-20150301_091349_mr1432546527332-1.jpg wpid-20150301_091119.jpg wpid-20150301_091106.jpg wpid-20150301_091042.jpg
As I have mentioned, the location is not too accessible by public transport, and there isn't much food nearby, so we cabbed back to Plaza Singapura for dinner! Decided to try Hoshino Coffee (our first time then), and it was really really yummy!!

Was deciding on a movie to watch but the timings were not suitable.. So we had my favourite milk cow honey ice cream before heading back.

It was a night of monopoly deal hehe, monopoly deal is so fun, even 2 people can play.. And the odds of winning are forever changing!!
wpid-img-20150301-wa0000.jpg
Our booking comes with free breakfast for 2, so we dragged ourselves out of bed to check out their breakfast spread. To be honest, it was a disappointment. The breakfast buffet was kind of "outdoors", the seats and staffs were very disorganized, service was bad and the cutleries were super dirty. Food and spread was acceptable. Their service left us thinking - no wonder breakfast is free. I have had a very bad experience with their service (or lack of service) but I decided to leave my story out of this happy post.
wpid-20150301_084335.jpg wpid-20150301_083600.jpg
Went back to catch up on our sleep before check out!!
Overall, our stay was pleasant, and the room was very nice and comfy~ Location is a little problematic, maybe it will be better to call for delivery instead of travelling out. Also, you might want to prepare yourself for the bad service at breakfast to prevent the staffs from spoiling your morning. We booked the room at a really low price, so it was really value for money. Anyone interested to know how to book staycations at low prices? Yes, applicable in Singapore and overseas! Let me know..
Lunch was at Kith Cafe which was nearby! We have had Kith Cafe (at Park Mall) and we liked it, so we wanted to check out this outlet. The concept of the 2 outlets are pretty different, the one at Park Mall was more comfy and the food was more suitable to my tastebuds (I'm a fussy eater haha), the one at Robertson Quay was a small shop and the quirky & small seats were all along corridor, plus they don't sell truffle fries. However, it was quite an experience to dine by the riverside too, you should try it! Their pasta (tasted okay) was served in bowls instead of plates unlike other cafes/restaurants, and people bring their pets along for brunch so you get to see lots of cute doggies passing by.
wpid-20150301_122120.jpg wpid-20150301_123458_mr1432546111425.jpg wpid-20150301_123414.jpg
Yep, so that's the end of our staycation at Studio M Hotel! :)

Breakfast problems.
The staff at the entrance merely asked for our room number and did not even bring us to a table, we were pretty early and they were not busy at that time. Nevermind, we found a table (for 2 pax) for ourselves and started eating. Halfway through, another staff cleared our table (our half-eaten food + our cutleries) completely, and this resulted in other people taking over our table when we went to get more food. (I never ever had this problem at any other buffets, food that is half-eaten will not be cleared without permission and seats never get taken by others just like that.) We moved to another table without making any fuss (the place is filling up and there were no tables for 2 pax left), and another staff came and insisted (rudely) that we share the table because it is for 4 pax. I was so pissed off, I've been tolerating everything without complaining - the lack of service, staff clearing all my food away without asking and people taking over our table - and this staff make it seems like we are selfish people and we want to occupy a big table for ourselves. I told her what had happened and I refuse to share a table because it is not my fault, but she don't seem to understand english and repeated the same thing. I ended up brushing her off by saying that "I'm done soon."
