Booking Beauty Services for CNY with Vanitee

Two more weeks to (one of the) biggest festival in Singapore - Chinese New Year! Everyone should be busy shopping for their new year clothes and new year goodies, while us ladies will be busy snatching up appointment slots to get our beauty services done right? I wanted to book an appointment for nails and eyelash extensions in the past weekend, contacted a few shops but they were fully booked. *Panic* Luckily Vanitee got in touch with me and invited me to use their app to book my beauty appointments, and yes, I managed to secure an appointment near my house pretty quickly. I now have red and gold nails, all ready to welcome CNY 2016, woohoo! img-20160124-wa0024_2 What is Vanitee? Vanitee is a mobile app that works to help users like you and me search for and book our appointments for beauty services. It is basically like a "uber" or "grabtaxi" for beauty services haha!! They cover quite a few types of beauty services, namely nails, makeup, hair stying and brow & lash. IMG-20160124-WA0023 For each category, you can view by "works" or by "artists". Under "works", just like the picture below, yow can view all works in pictures and also get some inspiration for the design you want; under "artists", it will be the profile of each shop or artist as well as a preview of some works, their star rating and location! IMG-20160124-WA0020 One of my favourite feature - the search filter! I was able to filter by location and I manage to find a shop at Bugis Cube, which is a location that is very convenient for me. IMG-20160124-WA0019 Decided to book my appointment with Cindy from The Nail Butler, due to her location as well as her rating on Vanitee. 43 bookings made through the app and she maintained a 5 star rating! FYI, Vanitee actually do background checks on their artists, and the artists on the app are personally verified by the Vanitee team. Anyway, under each shop's / artist's profile, we can see the works gallery, services available, prices, info about the shop as well as reviews and ratings from other customers! All these will help you with making a decision. ss2 Booking with Vanitee is pretty straightforward. You select the services that you want, choose your date and time, key in your credit card details and you're ready to secure your appointment! You may also key in extra instructions to the artist. If you're unclear about anything, you can actually chat with the artist via the app, both before and after making your booking. You might be wondering, how is your booking going to be confirmed? It is confirmed almost instantly! The timings available for selection on the app will be the available timings of the artist/app, and in the event that there is a clash or whatsoever, the artist will message you on the app to negotiate on a change in time or date. After I made my booking, the app recorded my appointment under "Bookings". I like it that they indicated the duration of the service, and I can inform my boyfriend regarding the time to pick me up. Also, the location and map is also provided within the app, I was able to find the shop with ease. The app also sent me SMS confirmations upon making my appointment, 24 hours before my appointment, 1 hour before my appointment, as well as the payment charged to my credit card after my appointment. Good for scatterbrains like me hehe. ss As mentioned earlier, I booked my appointment with The Nail Butler at Bugis Cube, which is a stone's throw away from Bugis Junction. The shop is pretty cozy and nicely decorated. I can see that they put in a lot effort in making us customers comfortable, with lots of cushion on the wide arm chairs, blanket for my lap, complementary drinks and candies, and they even have a TV for us to watch movies! 20160123_16044320160123_130918s I did classic gelish manicure and classic pedicure with The Nail Bulter, and I am satisfied with their service. Cindy did my pedicure while Vivian did my manicure. I now have pretty nails as well as softer feet hehe! Since it is CNY, I picked red color for both my fingers and toes. I have an apple red shade on my toes, and red + gold glitter nail art on my fingers. The above costed me $148 in total, inclusive of CNY surcharge for both services. Payment for basic services will be cashless, made through the app, while additional services/surcharge might have to be paid in cash, depending on each shop. Yay love my nails hehe!!! :D MAKEUP_20160124221821_save_mr1453645440578sq img-20160124-wa0025_2 After each of our appointment, the app will ask us for our review of the services, and you can proceed to rate the artist that you've engaged. This function is pretty good as the rating will be shared on the app and can help other users with their decision making. IMG-20160124-WA0021 A last close up of my nails and the gold glitter, I love this design haha! 20160124_214411 Lastly, happy chinese new year to everyone!!!:) 20160124_214733s I believe it will be pretty difficult to secure appointment slots for chinese new year beauty services from now on, so do remember to book your app with Vanitee this CNY. There are limited slots up for grabs, so do be fast! :) And just for my readers, make any booking on Vanitee by 14 February 2016 and get a FREE Beauty Kit from VanityTrove worth $30 when you use this promo code - "YINGJIECNY" :) ▶ Show quoted text

Review: ErucA Japanese Hair Care

Some time ago, I received the full range of ErucA hair products. I was overjoyed to receive so many pretty looking japanese products. I've always wanted to try this brand when I saw it in the stores due to the pretty packaging, and now is my chance! These products are as good as they look, not to forget that they are insanely nice-smelling! The formula is said to be made up of exquisite flower fragrances. The fragrance stays in my hair after each wash, and I am more than happy to be surrounded by sweet fragrance all night long. dsc08679_2 The full range of products from ErucA consists of three series - Scalp and Volume, 3D Volume Up and Moist & Repair - perfect for my not-so-perfect hair. I once did a lot of chemical treatments to my hair, and I am now trying to grow my hair out as the ends recover. More goodness for my hair yay! Also, each of the three series have a different scent, and I love 'em all. dsc08706_2 ErucA is a Japanese hair care brand with botanical oil infused shampoos and conditioners. Their main focus is on seed oils, which provide nature's 'silicon-like' effects but without the harmful effects of silicon itself. Seed oils from broccoli, cowberry, bilberry, milk thistle, etc is the hallmark of this moisturizing and shine-inducing formula, while the blend also contains other rich botanically-sourced oils such as argan, virgin prune and marula oil, which helps rejuvenate tired tresses. dsc08703_2

Scalp and Volume

The Scalp and Volume contains specially selected seed oils help to restore balance to your scalp, and moisturizing hyaluronic acid repairs and alleviate common scalp problems! dsc08718_2 There's also all natural botanical oil extracted from cowberry and billberry seeds that helps to revive and restore your hair and scalp. dsc08672_2 ErucA also carries Scalp and Volume Hair Mask which can give our scalp a good, relaxing and aromatic massage! dsc08733_2

3D Volume Up

This silicon-free formula cares for our hair an scalp, and it contains volumizing ingredients to create volume from the roots without the use of harmful products. Botanical oil extracted from broccoli seed and cranberry seed moisturise and cleanse hair and scalp, clarifying hair without stripping essential oils from scalp. dsc08676_2

Moist & Repair

This is my favourite out of the three series! It consists of hair defining formula that restores the balance of water and oil in our hair and scalp for frizz-free hair. It is made of luxurious argon oil, virgin prune oil and marula oil to help make hair more manageable while being gentle. dsc08725_2 I have been using the shampoo from this series daily. It forms a lightweight foam when lathered, and I find that even the shampoo alone is enough to make my hair well-moisturised! Cheers to soft and nice-smelling hair! :) dsc08668_2 Here is the texture of both shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo is clear and pretty fluid, while the conditioner is thick and pretty nourishing. 2016-01-27 20.39.18
